Do you support local business? Here at Plumbnorth we are strong supporters of local business, and not just on a business level but also a personal level.
As I look around our house I see items that we use daily that have been purchased, whether through network marketing or local entrepreneurs. Purchases that help to support families in the local community by supporting a local business to make its mark in the market or help a mum stay at home to spend valuable time with her children, whilst maintaining an active career.
Every morning I get up and start my day with IsaGenix, a product lovingly suggested to me by two of my good friends, my daughters are running around in handmade dresses that are unique and bought locally, I sit outside and watch them play in the cubby house that was bought from a local who knew the only options in the market were the large chain store options. Inside I have photos on my wall that have been taken by local talented photographers and framed in a local business.
The majority of these products can be purchased in large chain stores and may be purchased at a slightly lower price, the quality may not be as good as the slightly higher priced local option, but you know what they say? You get what you pay for!!!
Small business is the back bone of a community, they supply goods and services that not only employ local people but also allow profits to be spent in the local market, they are not the chain store business that sends all profit back to a major city or hires outside agents
When you are supporting local business, you are helping local families who in turn spend their money in other local businesses. Building our community through supporting small business also enables businesses to give back!
Plumbnorth is a great example of this, in 2016 we donated a washing machine and Gerni to a local kindy, the Kindy is another community funded business which provides quality preschool education to children in the area, there are many of these businesses around which are operated through the generous donation of time, services and grants from local business.
At the close of 2016 Plumbnorth ran a giveaway to provide services to someone in the community who needed a helping hand, being supported by our local community enabled us to be able to offer these services and we are happy to say that these types of giveaways will not be one off occurrences.
So, the next time that you are looking for a product or service we ask you to pause for just a minute and ask “is there a local retailer, network marketer, local business that I could support that in turn supports and enhances our community?”
