Getting ready for work in the morning and getting the kids organised and you start the shower turning your hot and cold water taps to the achieve the perfect temperature, then you step in ready for your morning routine, one foot in and you gradually move underneath the shower head ready to be met by the steady shower of water set to your perfect temperature until “ARRGGH” the water is freezing!! Quickly adjusting the taps to see if that will bring the hot water running to the surface but still the cold water envelops you, if nothing else at least you are woken up!! |
Has this ever happened to you? It happened to us when we had a little baby, my wife hopped in the shower with our daughter to get ready for her day and both her and my daughter were met by the freezing water and if that wasn’t bad enough it was also winter!
So is there an easy way to fix this? First things first, is your system a gas, electric system or solar hot water system?
The hot water system should only be inspected and repaired by a licensed professional, whilst it might be appealing to hire the handy man who is a little bit cheaper or to use the friend that owes you a favour, a licensed Plumber and Gas Fitter is your best option.
At Plumbnorth our team of experienced Plumbers and Gas Fitters have in excess of 50 years’ expertise, industry training and on the job experience. Insurances are in place to cover any works undertaken which makes Plumbnorth the perfect company to assist with your hot water requirements. Using a non-licensed tradesman could result in shoddy work that does not fix the problem and in the worst case scenario only makes the problem worse. So is there an easy way to fix this? First things first, is your system a gas, electric system or solar hot water system?
- If your system is an electric system then the first port of call is for you to check the circuit breaker and ensure that the breaker switch hasn’t been triggered, if it has been triggered to the off position simply turn it back to the on position, leave for about an hour and then check the temperature of the water.
- If your system is a gas system then check other appliances in the house that run on gas, if none of the appliances work then you may just require a change of LPG bottle.
- If your system is a solar hot water system then your system will be boosted by either gas or electric, as a solar hot water system is run by solar if the booster is turned off then the system could go for 2-3 days before you would run out of hot water. If your water is not hot check that the booster is turned on
- If you have tried the above quick fixes and they didn’t work it would be a reasonable assumption that the hot water system itself is the source of the problem, the next step would be to check the operation of the system.
